Name Chris Hanley
Age 17
I train at planet fitness in Bradford and I've been training for 3 and a half years.
Q.1 Why did you start bodybuilding and did you have any goals of competing to begin with?
When I was young both my big brothers went to the gym and I couldn't wait to start training, when I started I trained by myself and I looked up to my brothers, I first thought of competing when the gym put up a competition poster and I thought that I would have a go.
Q.2 What is your current training schedule like? How does it differ between pre-contest and off season?
My current training schedule is:
Mon: Back and biceps
Tuesday:chest and triceps
Thursday: legs
Saturday: shoulders and triceps
When I'm getting ready for a show the weights and intensity stays the same and I add a half an hour intense cardio and abs workout on Wednesday
Q.3 How long have you been competing? I have been competing for one year
Q.4 What are your main competitive achievements? 2nd Sci-Mentor Junior 2007, 2nd UKBFF North East 2007
Q.6 What weight are you off season and contest time? I keep really lean off season i weigh 82 kilos and I compete at around 78 kilos
Q.7 What are your current competitive and personal goals? My goal as a competitor is to become NPA junior champion and my personal goal is always to look better than I did in my previous show even if I don't win.
Q.8 Why do you feel you have been able to make continuous gains over the years? I think that I make continuous gains because I always put good form before heavy weight and I totally commit myself with my diet, I also train with my older brother and when I really want to give up during a hard set he makes me finish it and that makes all the difference.
Q.9 What supplements do you use? I currently use: Extreme Performance Whey protein, Extreme Creatine, Extreme Glutamine Complex, flaxseed oil and Lean R
Q.10 How much do you feel supplements and sports nutrition help your training? I believe that the supplements I take allow me to train at a higher level of intensity, as a student I would find it very hard to get the nutrition I need if I didn't have supplements which would effect my training.
Q.11 What is it that motivates you through a grueling workout? During a tough workout I get motivated by thinking about my goal and how much pain I am willing to go through to get there. I also think how lucky I am that I am able to train, my other method to get psyched involves growling at the weight, stupid but it works.
Q.12 Who, if anyone, do you want to thank over the years for their help? I want to thank my brother Wayne for pushing me to the next level in my workouts and never letting me down and I also want to thank Doug Black at Extreme Nutrition for his faith in me and giving me this great opportunity.
