Graham Park

Graham is age 48, married to Joyce and grandfather to Tia.

Q1. Why did you start bodybuilding and did you have any aspirations to compete?

I went to a competition in Aberdeen in the late 80's, bought a set of weights the following week and was hooked.

Q2. What is your current training schedule like?

Short and intense, everything thrown in, supersets, drop sets, heavy and basic. It all depends on the night.

Q3. What is your training split? What are your thoughts on cardio, do you feel it's essential all year?

Mon - Back & shoulders   Wed - Legs & calves   Friday - Chest & arms. I don't do cardio in my off-season as I'm in a manual job and do a lot of walking, cutting grass etc.

Q4. How long have you been competing? 10 years

Q5. What are your main competitive achievements?

I have won about 25 competitions with 7 Scottish class wins and 2nd in the EFBB Britain Senior class2002.

Q6. What weight are you off season and at contest time?

98-100kg off-season and 87kg during my last competition.

Q7.What are your current competitive goals?

EFBB Britain Seniors and NABBA Universe Seniors.

Q8. Why do you feel you have been able to make continuous gains over the years?

Being consistent in the gym, with the diet and taking good advice and finding out what works for you.

Q9. What supplements do you use?

Extreme Protein, Glutamine complex and Aminos and also multi vitamins and minerals and vitamin C.

Q10. How much do you feel supplements and nutrition help your training?

Supplements are very important to me. Protein to keep protein levels up, Glutamine complex to speed up recovery time and Aminos to compete the amino acid pool.  Keep it simple and affordable.

Q11. What is it that motivates you through a gruelling workout?

1 can of Red Bull and 2 ephedrine!

Q12. Who, if anyone, do you want to thank over the years for their help?

Dougie at Extreme for his excellent advice the last couple of years as I have made great gains and improvements, the lads at Mastrick Gym in Aberdeen and of course Joyce, for putting up with me and all that goes along with competing.
