Perry Crick

Name : Perry Crick

Lives: Market Harborough, Leicestershire

Occupation: Owner of ‘Fit Clothing.com’. (We do a wide range of men’s & women’s clothing from fitness to hardcore gym and supplements).

Also joint director of ‘Presa Security’ catering for all pubs, nightclubs and late night entertainment and food venues.

Would like to thank Doug and all at Extreme for all their help and genuine interest. The Extreme athletes really are a top squad that could hold their own to any other team.

Q1: How long have you been training for?
A: Around 12 years – Starting weight 11 stone

Q2: Why did you start?
A: I remembered watching the Rambo films as a kid. At the time I thought Stallone
was massive!! I knew then that’s what I wanted. Hard work has never bothered
me.

Q3: When did you first compete?
A: My first show was in 1997. Ultra Bodies Classic in Bedford. 13 in the first
timers line up and I got an invite to the NABBA Novice Britain.

Q4: How often have you competed and how did you get on?
A: When I compete I try to get a string of shows in before its time to get back to
“normal life”. I have competed in 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2005. The later being
the most successful. 5 shows in my run. An invite to the WPF World
Championships in France, 7th place (I probably would have placed higher if I had
got some more sleep that weekend. Roomed with Doug ….. the LOUDEST
sleeper ever!!).

I got an invite by doing Scott Horton’s Mr Hercules (Top Show) went in at 5ft 9
and 16.1st

Blackpool open height class winner & overall champion Open British
Championships. Height class winner & overall champion.

Mr Universe (Germany) 9th place which I was really happy with. Bit of a dream
come true to stand on that stage roomed with another Extreme athlete, John
Bridge 7th place, top man.

Q5: What do you find most satisfying about putting yourself through everything you need to do to stand onstage?
A: To be honest I don’t find the tail end of diet prep before a show that satisfying. If
you can diet hard for 2 months, plus train and hold a job down with family life there is not a lot you could not achieve. Take it easy and keep head strong is what I try to do.

Q6: What are your competitive ambitions?
A: To become British Champion and stand on a Universe stage were my realistic ambitions. Took a while to sink in. NABBA Mr England, Mr Britain and a top 6 Universe place next would be nice.

Q7: When did you start your preparation?
A: Normally start 10 – 8 weeks out.

Q8: How well do you feel it is all going?
A: 2005 was a really good innings. I don’t know it all but I do know when to listen to my body and with work commitments I was ready for a bit of a lay off. Time out is very important to come back fresh.

Q9: What is your diet like now? How have you changed it over the past months?
A: My diet now is high protein, moderate to high carbs and low fat. I do not count my calories off season because there is life out there. I eat good food but when I want some junk food I will have it and enjoy it.

Q10: What is your training like just now? How have you changed it over the past months?
A: Training has always been pretty mush the same, 5-6 days a week, 45 min to an hour. Relatively strict form. Forced reps here and there when it feels right. Key word “consistency”.
