| Name: Ronnie Blewitt
Ronnie won EFBB Body Fitness Class which entitles her to
her IFBB Pro Card.
Q1. Why did you start bodybuilding and did you have any aspirations to compete?
I have always had a keen interest
in sports and have a very competitive streak!. I was first
introduced to weighttraining by my step dad Paul Golding
who now is a competitive
power lifter in the BDPFA (British Drug Free Power lifting
Association) but originally started as a body builder.
I saw my mother competing at the ANB (Association of Natural
Bodybuilders) and was totally inspired by how amazing she
looked , she too is a power lifter and the current world
champion (2 years running)
I started training for my first show in 1999 and was about
3 weeks into my diet when I was involved in a near fatal
car accident whereby I fractured my spine in two places and
had to learn to walk again my competitive ventures seemed
a distant dream. I was told not to return to the gym for
at least 6 months but I thought I would train very lightly
if only to keep my back muscles strong to support my spine.
I managed to get back into full training and with the help
of my physio and personal trainer (Lisa Morgan- Nabba Competitor)
I won my qualifier in Cleethorpes and went on to win the
ANB Britain 2000.
Q2. What is your current training schedule like?
I have just had a whole week off as I have just finished
competing at the EFBB Britain, but beforehand it was 6 days
a week with high reps and low weights with cardio, cardio
and more cardio!
Q3. What is your training split? What are your thoughts on
cardio, do you feel it's essential all year?
I enjoy cardio and, for my metabolism, it is essential if
I want to stay lean.
I do a 6 day rotational programme and train legs 3 yes 3
times a week. My legs tend to store the most body fat and
therefore they require more work.
Q4. How long have you been training?
5 years ish!
Q5. What are your main competitive goals?
To be successful in improving my physique and reaching my
potential.
Q6. What height are you? What do you tend to weigh off season
and at contest time?
5'10 and about 9 1/2 stone competiton but I will get leaner
next time! Off season, I try not to go over 10st because
I can't afford to replenish my wardrobe!!!!!!!!
Q7. Do you see your bodybuilding fitness achievements
as a stepping stone to say modelling or television?
I do love competing and if I am able to pursue a career
from that it would be amazing but I am aware of the realities
of trying to make a living at the sport especially in the
UK.
Q8. Are you naturally a competitive person? Were you a sporty
(sporty, not spotty) teenager?
I think I answered that earlier, I love playing sports but
do not like spectating!
Q9. What supplements do you use if any and do you see them
as important to your success?
Yes, I use Extreme whey which tastes delicious especially
whilst on a diet! Its almost impossible to eat the amount
of protein required for muscle repair so its highly convienient
to have it in liquid form. I use the Lean
R (IS THAT THE
NAME????) fat burners that really helped shift the stubborn
fat on my legs! In between meals and before a workout I also
take the Glutamine supplement.
Q10. What is it that motivates you through a gruelling workout?
The thought that my imaginary competitor is training harder
than me.
Q11. What kind of reception do you get as a lawyer when
they know you are also a pro bodybuilder?
I don't know yet because I haven't told anyone i'm pro!
But I have been to several business engagements and my senior
partner always introduces me as 'the bodybuilder' and its
returned with a quizzical look and then a bombardement of
questions such as; 'so how do I get a six pack' (whilst clutching
a pint) or 'but you don't look like a bloke'. Worlds apart!
Q12. Who, if anyone, do you want to thank over the years
for their help?
Kimberley-Anne Jones has been my 'Bodybuilding mom', she
has provided my training/nutritional advice but more than
that she has believed in me awww i'm going to get all emotional!
She is a genuinley good natured person who is a great ambassador
for the sport who will never let me live down my pre-contest
hissy fits!!
My parents who have actively encouraged and supported me
throughout and Extreme Nutrition not only for providing me
with suuuperrbb supplements that have genuinly helped me
achieve my goals but also for believing in me.
Also the good lord who has blessed me with my faith and
kept me strong through my difficulties.
Lots of Love
Ronnie
