Q1. shane- i started training purely to add muscle. I`d always
been a very skinny kid but l always wanted the muscular physique
so i thought if god`s not gunna give me it, i`ll do it myself.
rachael- i was a quite chubby kid in high school, then i started working at a
gym and got into training though that but unlike most girls who dont like doing
weights because there scared of getting big i just wanted to see how far i could
take it. And competing followed after that.
Q2. shane- i swap it around a bit, but right now i train legs on sunday, back & calves
monday, tues & sat are rest days wednesday chest, thurs shoulders & calves
and friday arms.
rachael- i train 3days on and 1 day off shoulders, hamstring and calves, chest,
rest, back, quads, arms nothing special but it works for me.
Q3. shane- very short and intense workouts. usually only 8 to 10 sets, maximum
40 mins. very heavy weight incorporating drop sets and rest pause. the cardio
i leave to rach.
rachael- I always train fast maybe a bit too fast sometimes, but it's the way
i know to train and heavy. Heavy weights or nothing. And i like to keep my cardio
in all year increasing it when it comes to show time.
Q4. shane- i started training in my bedroom at home, aged 15. Had absolutely
no idea what i was doing, but trained every day without fail. This i know is
not the best way to train, but it got me in the habit of including weight training
in my life on a regular basis, which is the most important thing for a begginner
i think.
rachael- I've been training for three and a half years a very close friend of
mine took me under her wing and taught me what i know.
Q5. shane- My ambition is to compete in the mr. universe one day. After that,
i`ll aim for something else, maybe winning it.
rachael- my aim this year is the britain to see what mark i can make on it. But
higher dreams would be the universe for figure girls in this country it's the
main show to aim for.
Q6. shane- I`m 5` 7 1/2 inches tall. Off season i weigh 18 stone on stage 15.
But i`m still growing.
rachael- i'm 5'3 (so i'm in the short arse class) i weigh 10 stone 10lb at the
moment and hoping to weigh 8 to 8 7lb when i compete next year.

Q7. shane- Definately. I live my life to compliment my bodybuilding, not vice
versa. We`re both still young and i intend to make my mark in this sport before
i`m done.
rachael- i see our bodybuilding as part of our work if we look good and do well
with competing then it's good advertising for our gym.
Q8. shane- I`ve always been sporty. I grew up in a rugby league town so i played
that as a kid. I was in all the sports teams at school, football, rugby, cricket.
And i was actually a pretty good waterskier as a kid believe it or not.
rachael- Dont really have a competitive streak in me but at the shows i love
the atmosphere and the rivalry. As i said i was was a chubby kid at school and
not really interested in sport.
Q9. shane- Diet is key in this sport. No doubt about it. I`m very specific on
what i eat and when. My diet includes 2 extreme protein shakes per day, 1 build
and recover after training and i use glutamine 3 times per day pre contest.
rachael- this year i have made a real effort to keep my diet good in the off
season, but like every one does i get sweet craving's i use extreme protein shakes
to do this mix them really thick and pretend they're chocolate mousse.
Q10. shane- The thought that i`ll look out of place on stage and be totally outclassed
by my rivals terrifies me. Fear of failure, after putting in so much hard work
for so many years makes me train hard. I set my standards very high, so precontest
i`m an emotional powder keg, but it seems to work. so far anyway.
rachael- Wanting to look my best and wanting to shock people, With me still being
young i do surprise people but i dont want people to turn round and say to me
it's ok if she gets a low place because she's got plenty of time.
Q11. shane- I think it`s a common interest so it`s a plus factor in our relationship.
Bodybuilding is such a big part of my life, i couldn`t be in a relationship with
someone who wasn`t also involved in the sport. Regular people would never put
up with the insane and demanding lifestyle neccessary to compete. Rach understands
what i`m going through so her support is crucial. precontest is hard however,
i`m not very likable then, but she understands that too, and gives me my space.
rachael- I think it has been good for our relationship as we have the biggest
respect for each other because we both know how hard it is all year round. Plus
if it wasn't for this sport we would never have met each other.
Q12. shane- I`d like to mention Dayo Audi, Nick Bricklebank, Neil Smithers, Ady
Howell, my brother Craig and of course all the guys at extreme nutrition. but
most of all, the lady sat next to me.From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
rachael- I'd like to thank everyone who has encouraged me and believed in me
for the start but the biggest thank you goes to shane, who has helped me for
the start and has never stopped encouraging me. Thank you babe.
