Name - Trish Porter
Age - 37
Which gym do you train at? Body Gym, Upperlands, Maghera, Co. L/Derry
Q.1 Why did you start bodybuilding and did you have any goals of competing to begin with? I had done power lifting and strongwomen comps for a few years and wanted a new challenge. I hold all power lifting records for my weight class and I'm 2X UK Strongest Woman. I wanted to try bodybuilding for a change but now my main goal is to work hard and become a professional.
Q.2 What is your current training schedule like? How does it differ between pre-contest and off season? I'm now dieting for the NABBA World Championships in Greece so my eating has changed. I train 6 days a week, I get up every morning at 5.30 to do my cardio and get my meals ready for the coming day. I work full time and am a mother of 3 so need to be up sharp!
Q.3 How long have you been competing? I've only been competing in bodybuilding since September 07, so I've got a lot to learn.
Q.6 What weight are you off season and contest time? My weight off season is 147lbs and in my last comp I was 129 lbs.
Q.7 What are your current competitive goals? To do well in the NABBA Worlds and NABBA Miss Universe.
Q.8 Why do you feel you have been able to make continuous gains over the years? Once I get something into my head I go for it 100% and put everything into it. I take the sport very seriously and I do enjoy it which is most important of all.
Q.9 What supplements do you use? Extreme Protein, Creatine and Extreme Aminos.
Q.10 How much do you feel supplements and sports nutrition help your training? I couldn't train if I didn't take them, they make such a big difference to the way I look and feel. Having 3 children restricts your time incredibly so the convenience factor of the supplements is a Godsend.
Q.11 What is it that motivates you through a gruelling workout? I train with my husband Phil, he is a great trainer and motivator, all I have to do is think of my goals and thats me off!
Q.12 Who, if anyone, do you want to thank over the years for their help? My husband Phil especially has been great no matter what I'm training for, he is always behind me 100%. And I'd like to thank Phil Linton for working out my diets and keeping me right as I prepare for the big day. Also Brendan McQuiad from the Body Gym who has given me great support too.
