I have been in the gym training since I was only 11 years old, was hooked after watching the movie "Rocky" and then got hooked on the buzz of training. I was a fat kid in school and got bullied quite a lot due to this, but that soon stopped when I started training. Unfortunately things went the other way and by the time I was 17 I was anorexic and weighed barely more than 5 stone. I managed to overcome this and kept up my training along with proper eating. By the time I was 26 I had married and had my son tried hard to keep my training going. Then when I was 30 I gave birth to my daughter in January 2003 she was 2 years old when I competed for the first time at the NABBA west of Britain show in April 2005 where I finished 3rd. still cringe when I look back at the pics from that one. Since then I have taken part in 5 more competitions
NABBA Novice Britain November 05 (5th) was very lean then!!!
NABBA West Britain April 06 (2nd) best looking yet!!
NABBA British finals Toned Class May 06 (8th) Yuk to smooth
BNBF Welsh July 06 (1st)
BNBF British Finals October 06 (4th) WOW

My dad was an amateur wrestler in the sixties so I guess it must run in my genes- always been a tom boy doing push ups etc Hence my nick name is POPEYE. Now after getting some great feed back and advice from lots of great people I am hoping to take a big step and will be competing in the Physique class in 2007. So I am well pleased and looking forward to the challenge, can't wait for next year.

My training does vary quite a bit but normally will do 2 weeks of real heavy stuff with maximum of 8 reps per set. Then switch to 2 weeks of slightly lighter with maximum of 12 to 15 reps per set.

Nutrition (hate the word diet) HA HA I tend to cycle my carbs i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are low carb days.
Wednesday and Sunday are medium carbs.
And Saturday is high carb (cheat day).
Always make sure that protein is priority.
I do have a sweet tooth so Extreme Nutrition Strawberry whey powder and Nutri Pro Bars are what keep me going and because of my intolerance to wheat and gluten they are a pure God send to me as I have no reactions when using them. Start my show prep around 12 weeks out (cardio is king. Having 2 Labradors helps) Drop dairy products about 10 weeks out and then Turkey only from 8 weeks out. Then no treats from 4 weeks out. (Well that's the plan) Motto; "If a jobs worth doing, it worth doing well". And "Cheats only cheat themselves".

I have been very overweight and very underweight and I strongly believe there is no reason/excuse to be unhappy with your own body.
