Athletes All Get Results at NABBA Universe |
The NABBA
2007 had several Extreme Athletes entering various classes,
our first great result was our ageless superstar Graham
Park. Graham, owner of Results Gym in Aberdeen, took the
Over 50's Mr Class. This has been a long time coming,
I thought he deserved to win it last year but he ended
up third, no such disappointments this year though! Graham
has now won Mr Scotland, England, UK, Britain, Universe,
these are with several federations and along with a horde
of independent shows, as I write this I can honestly say
I don't know ANYONE who has won more titles than Graham.
Our next athlete was the comeback king, Robbie McRobbie,
after 8 years out he came back this year winning the over
40's at the NABBA Scotland and Britain and also taking
the overall at the Mr Caledonia and also the Prolab Classic,
could he follow this up with a victory at the highest
profile event in Britain? Robbie was ecstatic in placing
fourth in a seriously tough class, his smile was as wide
as his lat spread!
Next up was the first of our ladies, Rachael Grice. Rachael
is still only 24 years old and has already won Miss Britain,
so she is already a seasoned campaigner in bodybuilding
competition but how well would she shape up against the
best in the world? Rachael not only presented an improved
physique from the one that won Miss Britain but she exuded
grace, poise and confidence that is usually only found
in competitors well beyond Rachael's meagre 24 years.
Miss Grice, co-owner of Bodyworks Gym in Featherstone
with her partner Shane Copley, was another happy Extremist
with her third place finish. It's only a matter of time
till Rachael holds the top spot.
Malika Zitouni, one of the best known and most unmistakable
names in bodybuilding not only because of its uniqueness
but also because of the success and status she has reached.
The 2006 Miss Universe and WPF Miss Europe came into this
event on a roll with some excellent victories under her
belt this year and last, once again Malika took her class.
Our 2007 Miss Universe is a fantastic ambassador for bodybuilding
and also for Extreme Nutrition too.
Last up was one of our monsters, Chris Wall, this is a
man who has (controversially) placed second in the EFBB
Heavyweights at 19st 4lbs! After Chris not making the
top 5 two years ago due to training through an injury
and having to use anti inflammatory medications on the
run up to the competition and this negatively effecting
his condition, he opted to present a "different"
look to his physique this year, was it wise or was it
a gamble? It was a gamble because Chris was coming into
this show smaller than he has been for years, but drier,
tighter and in the best condition of his life, this gamble
paid off for Chris placing him third in this show. As
one of my best friends I was so happy for him and more
importantly he was happy himself at this placing and in
winning the Mr England contest the week before.
A really good day for Extreme and our athletes, I'd also
like to congratulate my good friend David Fox on coming
second in class 2, Dave looked fantastic and could easily
have won with no cause for anyone to complain, it really
was that close. I'd also like to congratulate Avril Keith
and Eileen McKinnon on their top 5 placing in the ladies
physique class. |
