Extreme Athletes at the UKBFF Britain

We only had two Extreme competitors in this show both of which did fantastically well.

First we had Venetia in the Ladies Physique Under 57kg class, this was only her second ever contest so she didn't really know what to expect, Venetia is a pretty modest young lady when it comes to assessing her own potential so she hadn't really put herself under pressure by expecting anything. When the class came on stage it was clear she was first or second but as the class went on Venetia's incredible shape and level of muscularity showed through and it was clear to all she was looking at a win. After winning her weight class she then had to go head to head with the winner of the Ladies Physique Over 57kg class, once again Venetia's shape and muscularity took her to the top spot, Overall Ladies Physique Champion 2007, not bad for her second competition!

Next we had our heavyweight Stuart Core, big Stuart was in the shape of his life after recruiting the help of Paul Scarborough to guide him through his contest preperation. The line up was massive with some incredible physiques but it was clear who the top slots were going to and fortunately Stuart would be one of those going home with silverware, but exactly where remained to be seen. After more call outs than anyone else in the line up I personally thought he wouldbe top 3 but when the presentations were being made Stuart was announced 4th and a happy man he was! Stuart will win this class and the overall at some point in his career but with his gym, Core Fitness in Plymouth and his beautiful wife about to give birth to twin girls he has a lot on his plate this year.

I'd also like to congratulate my friend Flex Lewis on his class win and in turn overall win and I'd like to wish him well as he steps up into the professional ranks. I'd also like to mention my long term friend and training partner from around 12 years ago Ian McKeating. After all this time Ian decided to have a go at the First Timers at the UKBFF Scotland, which he won and meant he would be eligible to take his place in the line up at the finals. He didn't make the top 6 but once again the class was huge and so were many of the competitors but once more an excellent showing for his second show.

Then we have the come back queen, Eileen McKinnon who hasn't stood on stage for 11 years but chose to give it all a go again this year. She won the UKBFF Scotland to qualify for the finals and placed third in the ladies Under 57kg Physique class behind Venetia. It should also be mentioned that Eileen won the 2007 NABBA Miss England Physique and also placed 5th in the 2007 NABBA Universe, a thouroughly good set of results after 11 years off.

Well done to all of them and anyone else who stood on stage this year, most people will never realise what is involved in preparing for a show and even less will ever actually do it so no matter where you placed in any event you are a champion in your own rights.
